Getting Around Light Night Leeds
Create your own route or hop on one of the free Light Night Rider buses, bring your bike, or even hail a Water Taxi!
Those attending the event are strongly advised to consider public transport options in the first instance. Please see transport and travel map and below information for further details regarding travel during the event. The information across this page is designed to assist you with all of your travel and transportation needs.
Once you arrive at the festival, you can pick up one of our brochures or visit an information point for further advice and guidance. Details of information points and other services can be found on the Programme Navigation Map. This map also includes details of the Free Light Night Rider bus services and well as approximate walking times between each zone for your information.”

Light Night Rider
Thursday and Friday 6pm to 10pm
Light Night Leeds’ very own wheelchair and pram accessible hop on hop off bus service is free to all. Priority will be given to those with access needs. Prams may need to be folded if possible. Bus stops are available for all the different zones. Buses run approximately every 15 mins.

There will be 3 routes to choose from during the event.
Light Night Rider East Route:
Leeds Bus Station, Stand 24 – The Headrow – Albion St – Woodhouse Lane – Vicar Lane – New York Street – Leeds Bus Station, Stand 24
Light Night Rider North & West Route:
Calverley St (North) – Blenheim Terrace – University of Leeds, Parkinson Building – Leeds Art University, Blenheim Walk – Calverley St (South) – Wellington Place, Whitehall Road – King St – East Parade – Calverley St (North)
Light Night Rider South Route:
Boar Lane – Neville St – Great Wilson St – Crown Point Road – Chadwick St – Meadow Lane – Boar Lane
Park and Ride
The PR3 Stourton and PR1 Elland Road Park & Ride facilities will remain open late, especially for Light Night Leeds. The last bus from Leeds City Centre to Stourton will depart at 10.50pm, and the last bus to Elland Road will leave at 10.30pm. Buses travel into the city centre every 20 minutes and offer free Wi-Fi. Return super off-peak tickets (valid after 3 PM) are £1.50 per person all evening, with up to three children (under 19) traveling free with each fare-paying adult. Please note that the £1.50 Park & Ride ticket must be purchased on the bus.

Elland Road Park & Ride will play host to one of our fantastic community installations, The Heofon Light Maze and Stourton Park & Ride will host NocturnOwls: The Watchful Guardians.

PR1 Extra services – every 20mins
Last bus from Boar Lane (Trinity P) at 22:30.
PR3 Extra services – every 20mins
Last bus from Lower Briggate (Trinity K) at 22:50.
Please note that Temple Green Park & Ride will not operate extended hours during Light Night and will close at 20:30 (last bus from Lower Briggate at 20:00).
Train Travel

Bus Services
Why not take advantage of the range of bus services travelling in and out of the city during Light Night. Make your destination your first stop at Light Night at Leeds Bus Station where you will be greeted by the magnificent NocturnHog: The Enchanted Wanderer. Cycle Parking
Cyclists
· Proceed with caution and abide by-laws and restrictions in place for the event
· Be mindful of cycle lane closures on Calverley St, City Square, Cookridge Street, Park Row & The Headrow. Further details can be found on our road closure page.
· If you’re travelling to Leeds by train, there is cycle parking on Leeds station platforms
· Tips on how to securely lock your bike
· Ensure your bike is equipped with working front and rear lights, as well as reflectors
· Wearing bright or reflective clothing and adding extra reflective details like spoke reflectors or tape, will help you stay visible

Pedestrians
· Stay safe during Light Night by making sure you’re visible on the streets, whether you’re walking or wheeling

· Hi-vis bags or accessories like reflective armbands and stickers on your coat or bag can help drivers see you
· Stick to footpaths where possible, and if there isn’t one, walk on the right side of the road facing traffic

Water Taxi
Thanks to our sponsors Leeds Dock, you will be able to take a free boat ride along
the canal on a water taxi from Leeds Station Southern Entrance to Leeds Dock. Please note there are very limited places available and services may be affected by poor weather. Please check the ‘Leeds Dock Water Taxis’ Facebook page for latest updates.
Parking
We strongly encourage using public transport, cycling or walking to Light Night if you can, but if you need to bring your car we ask that you consider off-setting your carbon footprint by making a donation to Love Leeds Parks via the Support Us section of our website. You can also follow a link to calculate your carbon footprint!
If you need to bring your car, please see the Travel map to work out your best route into the city centre. You will find highlighted on the map a number of car parks including and car parks which have slightly altered access to accommodate road closures associated with the event. The map also shows locations of Blue Badge parking bays which remain available for use during the festival.
